What lembray changes
When a carer knows about someone’s first job, their wedding day or the farm they grew up on, every visit has something to talk about. Recording a story together is time spent listening, and it tells the person their life matters.
A storybook of their loved one’s life, and their voice to listen to whenever they want, is a gift families never expect from a care provider. It tells them you treasure the person, and the family too. Something special, like a hug, that stays forever.
There is no script. People simply talk, the way they always have, and the conversation goes wherever they want it to go. If someone can no longer remember a story, a family member can write it and they read it aloud. The voice is completely theirs.
Care teams have always kept people’s stories, in scrapbooks, memory boxes and photo albums. lembray keeps them in the person’s own voice, and a story can be recorded in a few minutes. It helps carers know the person behind the care plan, and gives families something to treasure forever.
Why lembray exists
I wanted to give my son something he would keep forever: his grandfather’s stories, in his own voice. My dad recorded three stories. My mum, who can no longer remember her own stories, read one I wrote for her. My son cried. My daughters said this is now a family thing.
My British friends, not understanding a single word of Portuguese, wept just listening to my dad’s voice. One friend said: I wish I had done this.
That moment told me this needed to exist for every family. And I realised the people best placed to make it happen are the carers who spend time with them every day.

Simple for your team
A library of questions across 18 chapters of a life, from Early Days to Messages for the Future, written for care. Carers choose one or two and follow the person’s lead, or add their own.
After each recording, lembray suggests a follow-up question for another day. Each morning, carers can see who has a story waiting to be explored.
See who is taking part, how many stories each person has, and when they last recorded, with a simple summary every month.

Some voices won't always be there.
My mum’s memories were fading. The stories she used to tell, about herself and my son, about the moments they had shared, were no longer there when you asked for them.
So I wrote one for her. A story about a moment I knew she had treasured. And she read it aloud. I recorded it.

Privacy
Stories about someone’s life deserve the same care as the person. Carers only see the people assigned to them. Every family member’s access is authorised by your office, recorded, and can be withdrawn at any time. lembray is run in line with UK GDPR, and we agree the data protection arrangements with each organisation.
